Top two versus nut flush DRAW

Hand from December’s $550 event at Burswood. While it was unfortunate that yours truly won a one-way ticket to Busto city after the turn and river, I think this hand is a perfect case study for the way I use the ALL-IN bet – the slam-dunk of NLHE – as a weapon to try and push people off draws.

Now, using the Stars hand history model, this is how my final hand panned out. Where people’s identities are known, I’ve included them, mainly so I don’t have to say “Burswood Player 9″ or what not. I’m denoted in the 8-seat as AceHighRockStar (rather than AceHighChipSpewer) as I’ve only shown down one hand so far which was AhKh which I reraised after two limpers and bet on the turn when the Kd fell, so I’m assuming I’m playing a rocky game:

I hate the River.

Call with odds and position, put villain on a big ace that missed after the jack high flop with two diamonds. Reraise his weak bet fairly heftily on the turn when a non-scare card drops and villain STILL calls to be rewarded by an ace on the river. So sickening, and it’s just been a [...]

Something for your iPOD

Without going into too much detail, in a previous life I was pretty big into music of the (for want of a better “pigeonhole” to which my style of “music” could be conveniently shuffled away under) Dance and Hip hop persuasions. In addition to being a fan and avid record collector, I also dabbled in [...]

First three hands of SNG = QQ, KK, AA

…and I still can’t win a $6 SNG! It seems since announcing my challenge, I’ve stumbled into a bad rut and seem doomed to land myself into a perpetual downswing. On another non-challenge site, I bubbled a $1500GTD when my A6 runs into A8. Have I jinxed myself? I can’t say, but to the jury, [...]

$100 to 2k: the challenge

As much as I want to, I can’t make it to the Aussie Millions on account of work. As you can imagine, I’m a little peeved about this – even though I hadn’t found a way to luckbox satellite into the 10k main event, I was more than happy just to hang out with all [...]

Yarra Burn Pinot Noir Chardonnay Rose 2003 and Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Cabernet Merlot 2004

A couple of great drops I’ve had the pleasure of imbibing over the Christmas break. Both well worth hunting down at your local bottle shop. Fingers crossed, this review should also buy me some time as I get the second half of my Christmas chardonnay reviews up. They weren’t kidding when they dubbed this time [...]

A couple new ’06 whites

Pulled these out for drinks in the department but of course everyone tells me AFTER I crack ‘em open that they won’t be drinking wine. No matter, after a quick taste, managed to palm these off to people in different departments who no doubt gave them a good home. Wolf Blass Yellow Label Sauvignon Blanc [...]
